Been quite a while since I posted, but there are pretty good reasons. Two changes in jobs, closing the commission painting business due to lack of clients, etc etc etc. Lets just call it no time and keep it simple.
As it stands I have a LOT of GW Dark Eldar and Space Marine product sitting on shelves that I'm going to be selling to clear space. But I finally got moving on it again after a trip to Fedex Kinko's.
I printed out a number of textures on cardstock to use in detailing out the structure. Overall the effect is pretty nice, and a bit of touch-up with paint and marker will be necessary. But I am happy with the Elbrunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09609599302380972439noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4995585577525251124.post-63138225111572476992012-08-26T15:25:00.001-05:002012-08-26T15:25:19.832-05:00Initial WIP on Terrain, Part 6 (Terrain in a Game)Today is an update just showing the current terrain project in a game of Infinity. Detailing updates will continue Monday evening as today is a 'day of rest' for me.

Didn't get as much finished as I'd like, partially due to having to go material shopping.... Seriously, who the heck prices paper? 250 sheets of cardstock for $14.99+ tax? No packages smaller at the office supply stores? Had to settle for 67 lb cardstock at one of the craft stores, when I REALLY wanted 110 lb. Things went really great for the first 3 hours of work, then my last scroll saw blade broke. So the last cutting I needed to do in order to finish the roof on the third floor had to be postponed until tomorrow.
Since pretty much everything else had been finished to the pre-detailing point I decided to prime the building. Things went a bit smoother today, though the scroll saw had a blade snap which I had to replace. But overall my preplanning on wall placement and door cuts sped things up quite a bit.
At this point I have the ground floor and second floor finished (sans detailing), and tomorrow I'll begin work on the last level and roofing. Today I'll begin discussing various topics about buildings for wargaming. Infinity is a skirmish level miniatures wargame set in the 23rd century. In this setting there are a number of Human factions, as well as a faction of alien aggressors invading Human space. The various factions are based upon a number of ethnic groupings that came together into government bloks around the time of Humanities expansion into space.

That being said I've come to the conclusion that the new rules price point, as well as just the general feeling of GW not caring about their customers with their yearly price increases for models/paint/etc etc etc. Plus their disregard for entirely lines of their own Elbrunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09609599302380972439noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4995585577525251124.post-40535023610776376432012-06-16T23:49:00.002-05:002012-06-16T23:49:35.295-05:00Some incredible art that is a lot like wargaming terrainI found this link on the Infinity game forum, and just had to share it. This artist takes terrain to a new level. None of it is actually for gaming, it is artwork, but wow. Talk about inspiring in ways I haven't been about terrain in quite a while.

Many many battles were fought, by hundreds of people. The Crystal Brush came and went. And finally a chance to get some good sleep.
Overall the con was fun, with a lot to do. Plenty of demo games, tournaments, and seminars. Picked up some new tricks to use in my hobby work, which is always a plus. My miniatures for entry into the Crystal Brush sit in the miniatures case behind me (though I am thinking of doing a little work on the eyes of the troll). I've been working on two papers for two classes, and it has taken up far more of my time than expected. But by way of apology, I will be getting pics up of WIP for Adepticon by tomorrow. As the deadlines approach on all the things going on, I'm finding more and more 'oomph' for getting those things done. As well as finishing up work on my Kill Zone team for play there as well. Another project in the works is finishing up the renegade IG force (which I've recently finished painting 5 Ogryn for), as well as assembling and painting a Super Dungeon Explore set (which I've shown WIP on 2 figs from) to Elbrunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09609599302380972439noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4995585577525251124.post-83714846222618500542012-04-03T12:53:00.000-05:002012-04-03T12:53:26.627-05:00A few more pics of the Sisters of Battle I finished. Not much to say, here are a few more pics of the SoB army I worked on. I love the fluff and feel of the Space Wolves, but I've always felt a need to take my own spin on things. So the Blood Wolves came about.
