Now as a player of WH40k for many years, and a number of editions, I'm all for fixing broken rules and evolution in the rules. That being said I've come to the conclusion that the new rules price point, as well as just the general feeling of GW not caring about their customers with their yearly price increases for models/paint/etc etc etc. Plus their disregard for entirely lines of their own product (Sisters of Battle?). Well I've decided I might paint the stuff, but I'm done playing anything more involved than Killzone (free fan made skirmish 40k).
Infinity, Warmahordes, those are my current go to games. They are fun, not over the top crazy expensive, and the games are quick and full of far less headaches. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed 40k for years, but I'm just tired of GW's business tactics and attitude, so I won't be supporting them in the way I had been for years.
As such I'll be going through all my 40k stuff in the next week, and putting even more up for sale on eBay. I'm only keeping enough to get smallish (750 pts or less) games with my boys, and a few killzone teams. Everything else GW (well aside from Space Hulk, love that game) is going. I'll probably even sell my bits (I have TONS for marines).
In upcoming weeks you'll be seeing more blog posts, but dealing more with non-GW games and figures. Overall I think this move is best for me in the long run, and it reduces the number of product lines I've been gathering from 5 to 2. Yeah, I was getting a little silly with GW purchases this last year, and selling it all off will go a LONG way to helping clean up my workspace for other projects.
On a totally different note I am working on some prototype terrain boards that I'm debating putting a Kickstarter together for, in order to start producing them for sale. 2'x2' terrain boards, as well as a number of non-product line specific scifi terrain, markers, and other things in mdf and acrylic. If the prototyping goes well I'll be putting up more information, but until then this is just a 'keep an eye out' blurb.
Until later!
